I was privileged to be on the original Board of Directors of the Christian Fly Fishing Roundup when we started back in 1999.  I have been involved in fly fishing from the time my father purchases my first fly rod from JC Penney’s.  I first became involve in the fly fishing industry while working for Doug Stewart at Stewart’s Custom Tackle in Gresham.  Since that time I have become a member of the professional staffs of Temple Fork Outfitters, Whiting Feathers, Angler’s Sport Group, Teeny Fly Lines and Peak Vice Company.  Currently I present and lecture in Oregon, Washington and Montana.  My presentations are “Fly Fishing Central Oregon”, “Fly Fishing Fall River”, “The Crooked River”, and most recently “Fly Fishing Fletcher Lake, BC”.

I first accepted the Lord nearly thirty years ago while going through some difficult times.  I have enjoyed being involved in music ministry in most of the churches that we have attended.  My wife Jo and I currently go to Sunset Park Church of God, in St. Helens, Oregon.  In 2004 I retired as the Assistant Superintendent of Scappoose School District, yet I still love teaching.  I am currently a Professor at Warner Pacific College, teach reading at Warren School, and Adjunct at George Fox University teaching and do supervising of graduate students in the Educational Leadership Program.   We have two lovely daughters Marya and Megan.   Megan is married to Gordy Jarman.  They have blessed us with two beautiful granddaughters, Hadley & Emmy.   We love our  two dogs, Pete (a yellow lab) and Chloe.

Mission Statement:

To be fishers of Men and Fish! Matthew 4:19

I lived most of my life in Oregon and have always been active in sports.  As an avocation I have been a church music director for over 20 years and I love to sing, especially harmonies.  I love sports I have hunted with rifles and bows, I love to golf and now work at a very challenging golf course, and I love to fish.  I'm new at fly fishing but have had some great experiences.  I run a Willie drift boat and love to use my Outback pontoon boat.  I also spent 12 years as a crew chief for a hot air balloon company logging over 650 flights and logged over 80 flights as pilot in command with a commercial balloon pilot license.  I've been married to June for over 45 years and we have two grown children and 4 grandchildren.  Our daughter works for Evergreen Aviation in McMinnville, OR and our son is a Major in the Army.  We are very active in our church and without hesitation state that we are evangelical Christians and attend the Friends Church in Newberg, OR.

Joe Warren

Joe Warren is an original founding member and board of director for Christian Fly Fishing Round Up since 1999.  Joe accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at early boyhood.  Growing up was challenging with unfortunate roller coaster events that pulled Joe in and out of a frustrated Christian life.  At age 30, he rededicated his life to being a servant and witness for Jesus Christ and stepped off the roller coaster for good!  He has been an avid fly fisherman all his life with blessed opportunities to fish many places.   When the opportunity came to use fly fishing as a ministry for the Lord, it opened Joe’s eyes and heart as the perfect moment to encourage men to also be firm followers of Jesus Christ.  Matthew 4-19 is one of Joe’s favorite verses, to be a fisher of men!  Needless to say, Christian Fly Fishing RoundUp is an annual highlight event for Joe.

Joe is also a freelance outdoor writer and photographer and makes appearances for fly tying and fly fishing at sport shows and fly fishing clubs.  During the fall, Joe changes his nimrod quests from fly rod to rifle in pursuit of big game.  He resides in Carson, WA, with his wife Melissa and daughter, Katy.  He attends Stevenson First Baptist Church in Stevenson, WA.

Having grown up in Grants Pass, I have always enjoyed the out of doors- hunting, camping, fishing, etc. Bob Roberts, one of the guys that went to the church we were attending in the '70's &'80's, was a fly tyer and fisherman. I took on the challenge of trying to tie some flies. I suppose just to see if I could do it. But, soon changed my purpose for tying, I really did enjoy it. Soon, he also gave me lessons with the fly rod. So, off I go."  I married in '78, Kathy and I have Stacy-24 and Tyler-21, (Tyler has been to Roundup several times). I've worked at George Fox University since '97, I graduated from GFU in '76. I became a Christian in '64 while in the 5th grade and my favorite Bible vs. is John 15:5.
